Product information

Myambutol can be used to treat mycobacteria that are active against the antibiotics amoxicillin, doxycycline or chloramphenicol. Myambutol is available in oral tablets (0.5 mg/day) and in injectable tablets (0.5 mg/day). Myambutol is used in the treatment of pneumonia, tuberculosis, and bronchitis, including pneumonia and bronchitis. Myambutol is also used for treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes lung cancer, obstructive pulmonary disease and other obstructions. Myambutol is a beta-agonist that reduces prostaglandin release, which in turn reduces prostaglandin production. It has antineoplastic action in vitro and in vivo. In vitro, Myambutol is highly effective at reducing prostaglandin production (5-20%, n = 5). Myambutol treatment with Myambutol can be combined with other drugs for the treatment of prostaglandin-secreting mycobacteria (4-6, n = 7).
