Product information

Coumadin is used as an anticoagulant. It is effective in treating the symptoms of blood clots when used with blood thinners. Coumadin suppresses the production of blood clots (clots), preventing their formation. Coumadin suppresses the effects of vitamin K, which actively participates in clotting of the blood. It is effective against blood clots when used as directed, when used at the recommended dose (usually 0.15 mg/kg body weight), or when used in a continuous or intermittent dose, as required by your doctor. If you are using blood thinners with Coumadin, take your Coumadin regularly. Coumadin can be effective in reducing the severity It is also used for treatment of patients who have a bleeding heart disease, heart failure, or a stroke, as it is an anticoagulant, which reduces the blood loss and prevents further blood clotting, therefore preventing the formation of blood clots. Vitamin K deficiency may cause some adverse reactions, such as headache, dizziness and confusion, which could be aggravated by Coumandin. Coumandin must be taken daily or every two hours to prevent the formation of blood clots; therefore, if you are taking Coumandin for several months or if you are taking any medications which increase the risk of blood clot formation, such as medications which increase the risk of heart attack, it is advisable that you take it at least twice a day, preferably twice per day, to prevent the formation of blood clots and to prevent the development of a bleeding heart disease. Coumandin has no effect on your immune system. Side effects of Coumandin: Coumandin is contraindicated for: Women who are pregnant or are breast-feeding People who have been diagnosed with a heart condition such as angina, stroke, myocardial infarction or stroke syndrome Coumadin can be given as an oral or intravenous tablet. The dosage for the oral tablet should be less than 10 mg twice a day. If coumadin is taken for more than 3 months it is recommended by the World Health Organization that patients with high blood counts (eg, those with high triglycerides) be switched to an anticoagulant. When Coumadin is taken by injection When coumadin is injected into the blood the anticoagulant effect is reduced to approximately half, which makes coumadin more effective in reducing blood clots. Coumadin should not be taken when the blood is thick or when the blood volume has increased significantly. To take Coumadin by injection take a small amount (1/2-1 mg) of the active medication. When Coumadin is not injected For a longer period of time, you may need to take another anticoagulant such as Coumadine, or use another anticoagulant with less side-effects. For more information If you have any questions, please contact the National Blood Center for the U.S.A (http It is also used for treating patients with a condition that causes bleeding of the brain, such as acute myocardial infarction. It also has an active form called Coumadin B6 which inhibits thrombolysis. Coumadin B6 has a longer half-life than Coumadin A. The active form of Coumadin B6 is called Coumadin A and has a shorter half-life than Coumadin A. Coumadin B6 is used only for patients who already have a severe heart condition such as coronary artery disease or myocardial infarction (myocardial infarction is when Coumadin is also used to treat certain cancers and cardiovascular disorders.
